In the last few weeks of this course, I have explored two new programs from the Adobe Creative Suite. First is Adobe Photoshop CS2. I think that this program is very easy to use, as I have used earlier versions of this program before. However, there may have been many new features in this version that i have not seen and used compared to earlier versions. The second piece of software is Adobe Audition. Adobe Audition allows the user to record and manipulate sounds. I think it is very similar to programs that I have used like SoundForge and Apple's Sound Studio. The thing I like most about it is the effects; especially the doppler effects. I was mucking around with it the other day while manipulating sounds for my final portfolio.
If I had the money, I wouldn't mind buying this program (that is if they ever release a Mac version) as it would greatly enhance the quality of music that I have composed on my computer. Also, I wouldn't mind buying Photoshop CS2 as I think I need an upgrade of what I have (I currently have Photoshop 7) Now THAT is old.

Portfolio Progress
My digital portfolio is coming along quite well. The theme of this is based on one of my all time favourite interests: Trains. This portfolio consists of projects completed both at uni and in my spare time.
The home page consists of 7 buttons. (4 of which are railway signals and three of which are trains) the train buttons play different sounds when they are rolled over (a whistle for a steam engine, a bell for a diesel, and a horn for an electric). The 2nd page is based on those TV screens seen at railway stations. This will show the names of songs that I have written (as buttons), and when clicked, they will play a short sample of the corresponding song.
The third page is a profile of myself, based on what looks like a train driver profile (a little clipboard displays information about myself, and also showing what looks like a passport photo on the right.
A noticeboard showing various experimental images (which enlarge when rolled over) dominate the 4th page, while small flash projects completed in this subject (imagetext) are shown on the 5th page. I don't know what the next few pages will display yet, but it is hoped that they'll display pictures of trains that I have taken.
Anyways, I'd better get back to work...........

Why I love Flash 8
There are quite a few reasons why I like this program; the main reason is that it has helped me enhance my knowledge of how to use a computer, and also the fact that you can create heaps of neat little projects. Also, I love the shape tween, which can turn shapes into words, and then from words into pictures, which can then be rotated, manipulated and split apart. However, the program is not as easy to use as it looks, the part that I really dislike is the action scripting (I know we've been doing tutorials on this, but it is just too damn confusing!)
Flash 8, compared to other versions of the program I have used (Flash 4, Flash MX and Flash MX 2004) Is probably one of the most interesting programs. It is hard to believe that a cartoon called 'The amazing Adrenalini Brothers" was created in a version of flash, but I'm not sure which one.
